THE KNIGHTS Pharmacy Redditch Easter Open attracted 145 entries from across Britain and featured great success for home players.
The four-day event took place at Redditch Tennis Club and featured players battling through the wet conditions to play a total of 233 matches.
Redditch TC head coach Tony Ravenscroft said: “There was some excellent competition throughout the four days in both singles and doubles events.
“The tournament offered events in all age groups from eight and under through to open age group. Well done to all the Redditch players who competed.”
Players from Redditch who made the finals were Kiyyah Grant who finished runner-up in both the 16 and under girls’ and women’s events and sister Latesha Grant who was crowned champion in the women’s event.
George Hadley won the nine and under event and Harvey Ravenscroft was runner-up in both the 16 and under boys’ singles and 16 and under boys’ doubles partnering Sam Laidler.
Caleb Ravenscroft was runner-up in the 12 and under boys’ doubles with partner Sam Sitch.
Ravenscroft added: “Thanks to Knights Pharmacy for sponsoring the event again this year. The event has grown each year since the sponsorship started three years ago and we hope to continue to expand next year.”
Redditch Tennis Club offers great facilities and opportunities for all ages and abilities to get involved and the club has just been named Midlands Regional Club of the Year by the Lawn Tennis Association.
