REDDITCH Entaco and Feckenham will go into Saturday’s Worcestershire League Division One derby at Bromsgrove Road in fine spirits after claiming victories last time out.

The Kingfishers bagged their second win of the campaign as they saw off Droitwich by four wickets at St Peter’s Playing Fields.

Captain Russell Southwick won the toss and inserted the home side and his decision was justified as Droitwich were dismissed for just 166.

Pace bowlers Waqas Ali (4-31) and Noman Mohammed (3-44) led the way, whilst veteran Paul Bryan made an excellent unbeaten 55 for the hosts.

In reply Redditch lost openers Rizwan Mohammed and Olly Mason without scoring, but a century partnership between Southwick (59) and Brandon Weal (47) put the visitors back in charge and it was left to Tom Field (21no) to see the Kingfishers home with eight balls to spare. Droitwich skipper Jake Young took 3-55.

Redditch 2nds surrendered their 100 per cent record with a nine-wicket Division One 2nd XI defeat at home to Harborne.

The hosts could only muster 205 as Luke Davis (46) and Geoff Eley (42) impressed. Rob Powell took 5-45.

Harborne wasted no time in reaching their target as Rob Powell (41), skipper Sam James (77no) and Chris Morrison (62no) did the damage in just 43 overs.

On Saturday third placed Redditch visit new leaders Feckenham at Mill Lane.

The Kingfishers’ third string went down by eight wickets at Stourbridge in Division Five.

The home side won an important toss and bowled Redditch out for just 78 on a wet wicket before easing to victory in reply.

Pershore are Saturday’s visitors to the Entaco.

Redditch Entaco over 45s begin the defence of their title on Sunday against Droitwich & Avoncroft at Bromsgrove Road.

Once again the side, who have not lost for two years, will be skippered by Nev Mason. The 35 overs per side match starts at 2pm.
