Redditch Open serves up home success

THE COUNTY level grade 4 Hunters Redditch Open attracted more than 100 entries from across England and Wales and there was lots to celebrate for home players at Redditch Tennis Club.

Some 140 matches took place over the three-day event and Redditch players Felix Shennan and Harvey Ravenscroft won the ten and under singles and 16 and under boys’ doubles respectively.

Shennan beat Matthew Gardner from Warwickshire 4-2, 4-3 in the final and Ravenscroft paired up with Toby Clarke from Surrey to beat Herefordshire & Worcestershire pair Sam Cassidy and Sam Lea 4-1, 4-0 in the final.

In other finals, Toby Clarke beat Dylan Davies in the 16 and under boys’ singles and Iona Darius-Bolfa saw off Alfie Mills in the 12 and under boys’ singles.




Roisin Boyd defeated Giulia Caturano in the 16 and under girls’ singles and Mills & Toby Ward beat Darius-Bolfa and Joe McKay in an all-Herefordshire & Worcestershire 12 and under boys’ doubles final.

Boyd and Christine Fourie got the better of Caturano and Karina Luna-Guzman in the 16u girls doubles final, Oliver Badger beat Oliver Arch in the nine and under singles, Caturano saw off Lilia Mico in the 14 and under girls’ singles final and Jayden Jeremy-Go beat Luca Vladau in the 16 and under boys’ final.
