REDDITCH United Ladies geared up for Sunday’s (2pm, free entry) eagerly-anticipated West Midlands Division One South League Cup semi-final against Stourbridge at the Trico by earning a priceless league victory over Kidderminster Harriers.
Sunday’s 4-2 win at the Trico over the third-placed visitors kept Gary Barrell’s side in second place behind Gornal following the latter’s 4-3 victory at Solihull United.
However, the Reds are just a point behind the leaders with two games in hand and four to play – the first of which is the visit to Solihull United on April 22.
Harriers took the lead from the penalty spot before Erin Riden’s thumping volley restored parity.
However, just two minutes later Kidderminster restored their advantage, only for Riden to convert Georgia Harris’ great set-piece delivery and make it 2-2 before half-time.
Early in the second half keeper Kirsty Grigg made a superb save and player of the match Maisie Farr cleared off the line to keep the hosts level and this proved crucial in the final analysis.
Redditch took the lead for the first time on the hour when Jade Grove turned to fire home on her league debut for the Reds before Harris’ stinging strike sealed victory.
