REDDITCH Entaco produced their most impressive display of the season so far to defeat Stourport by eight wickets and move into fifth place in Worcestershire League Division One.
Skipper Russell Southwick won the toss and decided to field in challenging conditions for the batsmen. His decision was justified as the visitors were bowled out for just 193, with Ryan Derrick top scoring with 48.
Haris Ali took 3-40, Waqas Ali 2-25 and Ghulam Moyhuddin 2-32 for an inspired Kingfishers bowling attack.
In reply Redditch lost Brandon Weal cheaply but a quickfire 40 from Greg Chinn kept the Kingfishers on top before an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 132 between Southwick (90no) and Moyhuddin (56no) saw the hosts home in just 30.5 overs.
On Saturday the Kingfishers travel to new leaders Bewdley, boosted by the return of Noman and Rizwan Mohammed.
The 2nds remain in second place behind Feckenham in Division One 2nd XI after their match at Stourport was abandoned due to heavy rain.
Redditch posted 276-6 off 50 overs as Luke Davis (72), Geoff Eley (69), Olly Mason (40) and Naseek Hussain (33) all enjoyed time at the crease.
Stourport replied in positive fashion, scoring 101-1 off just 18.3 overs with Neil Bailey unbeaten on 49 before rain arrived.
Bewdley head to Bromsgrove Road on Saturday.
The 3rds enjoyed their first win of the Division Five season, beating Droitwich in a match hampered by the weather.
Dan Protherough hit a magnificent 119 and was aided by Stefan Jagielski (42) as visitors Redditch posted 270-8 off 45 overs.
In reply Droitwich scored 141-2 off 31 overs with Peter Gurr (59no) and Greg Mazgajczyk (44no) enjoying time at the wicket. Ben Hicklin and Haleem Basharat were the wicket-takers.
On Saturday Enville are the visitors to the Entaco.
The 4ths’ Division Five 2nd XI home match against Droitwich was washed out due to overnight rain. The 4ths visit Enville on Saturday.
