Seven heaven for unbeaten Millers

BRACES from Jake Donnelly and Luke English maintained Feckenham Sunday’s status as leaders on top of the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination League tree on Sunday – following a 7-1 thumping of Studley Lions.

The unbeaten Millers also had Umit Eminoglu, Connor Perry-Holmes and George Tolley on target, with Richard Tyler finding the net for Studley, in a result which makes it eight wins from nine for unbeaten Feckenham.

SSS Lions, however, maintained the pace and kept their 100 percent winning record intact by putting nine past Redditch Town in a 9-1 drubbing.

There were braces for a quartet of players, namely Nick Briggs, Jay Gifford, Brendan Hicks and Tom Keogh, with Ben Ellicot notching the other for the title-challengers and Chris Adams grabbing Town’s consolation.

Third-placed AFC Thomas Brothers slipped up for only the second time this term, in a single-goal defeat by Redditch Borough.

Alex Birch struck the winner, ensuring fourth-placed Borough can leapfrog their rivals by winning their game in hand.

VKL United have jumped to eighth after edging AFC Windmill 3-2, in which Dan Hill, Sam Osmond and an own-goal from the visitors secured victory.

Hallam Bird and Louis Brough were the Windmill scorers.

South Redditch snatched a valuable three points to help them climb away from the bottom three, winning by the same scoreline with Jake Byford’s double and Bradford Piper’s goal leading the way to a second win this term – in spite of Frankley’s Tom Glencross hitting a brace.

Headless Cross Lions are now fifth after Chris Ellis and Joe Frampton found the net in a 2-0 success over strugglers Beoley Village, while Astwood and Redditch United Cross played out the sole draw of the weekend – a 1-1 stalemate.

Josh Bowen was on target for hosts Astwood, with Callum Hall firing home for United.
