REDDITCH-bred athletes Connor and Joe Smith were both in impressive form as the cross country season came to an end with Saturday’s Home Countries International at the picturesque Wollaton Park in Nottingham.
The course was very firm at the East Midlands venue and, in the junior men’s 8km race, ex-B&R runner Connor Smith, now of Swansea and representing the Midlands, finished 16th in a time of 27:39.
The event was won by John Millar of Ipswich Harriers. Smith helped the Midlands team to finish fourth in this event.
The senior men’s 10km race was over a five-lap course and Tipton Harriers’ former B&R man Joe Smith secured 13th place representing the Midlands. He clocked 33:52 as the Midlands team finished second in that event.
The next meeting for B&R runners is the English Road Running Association National 12-stage and women’s six-stage road relays held at Sutton Park, Birmingham, on April 14.
