Sykes races to win for B&R at Midlands Cross Country Relays

BETH SYKES took the race win as Bromsgrove and Redditch AC under-17s team took first place at the Midlands Cross Country Relays at Aldersley Stadium in Wolverhampton.

Sykes clocked 11 minutes 51 seconds to cross the line fastest, with Anna Nicod sixth in 12.56, one place ahead of Ellen Bowen (13.05).

The B team also impressed, taking fourth place thanks to the efforts of Amy Mijovic Caldwell (4th, 12.40). Alice Battey (13.10) and Eleanor Moss (14.1)1.

Natlie Hatfield was second fastest in the U15s girls’ race in 11.57 and teammates Lauren Sykes (13.55) and Sophie Groom (12.55) helped the team to third overall.




There was frustration for the U15s boys and U13s boys who had incomplete teams.

For the U15s, Josh Robbins was second fastest in 10.48 and Adam Knowles clocked 13.13 while Finnan Robins was quickest in the U13s in 11.34. (1st fastest) and Pijus Tvardausk was fourth (12.08).


In the senior men’s race there were no B&RAC runners but Bromsgrove’s Joe Smith won in 20.11 to help Tipton to the team prize.
