REDDITCH United Ladies celebrated a season to savour at their 2016/17 awards evening last Friday, writes Liam Moakes.
Gary Barrell’s youthful side finished runners-up in West Midlands League Division One South and claimed silverware when they won the West Midlands League South Cup.
The management team faced a tough decision to choose their Player of the Season and it was Katie Edwards who picked up the prestigious award.
Young Player of the Season was Amy Kendall, Players’ Player of the Season was Ellie Gerhold and Supporters’ Player of the Season was Sofi Liperis.
Important contributions to the team were also recognised as Officials of the Season honours were given to player Sarah Kennedy and Tony Grogan.
Meanwhile, United’s pre-season schedule has been confirmed.
On July 30 the Reds will host Birmingham & West Midlands (FA WPL Midlands) before entertaining Starland St Annes (BCWL Premier) on August 6.
Then comes the tour to Dublin which will bring an August 11 fixture against Shelbourne Ladies (FAI Women’s National League) and another fixture to be confirmed the following day.
Coventry Sphinx (WMRWL South) are the visitors to the Trico Stadium on August 20 and then comes a home fixture against Wolverhampton Sporting (WMRWL Premier) on August 27.
The Reds also visit Walsall Ladies (BCWL Premier) on August 31.
