MIKE Fowler wants to see more consistency from his Redditch United side ahead of a double-header over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Reds drew 2-2 with Royston Town in their most recent outing at the Valley Stadium as Robbie Bunn and Alex Cameron both found the net.
However, Reds boss Fowler felt his side struggled to control the game in a basketball style contest.
Fowler said: “Royston were desperate to get off the mark, they asked us every question they could possibly ask of us.
“Do I think we were ready to answer those questions? No. I don’t think we started the game well enough.
“It was uncomfortable for large spells in the game. It was a like a basketball match. It’s a good point.”
And with a double-header coming up this weekend, including a derby against local rivals Bromsgrove Sporting, Fowler admits he will need every player in his squad across the two matches.
Fowler added: “The big thing for us is: ‘can we put a 90 minutes together?’
“I need consistency, we’re a new team, we need time and patience.
“I’m frustrated by some of the things I’m seeing, small basics.
“If the players do what they’re asked, if it goes wrong that’s on me.
“But when they go off-script, that’s on them.
“We have to develop those things over the next couple of weeks.
“As a group they have to take responsibility.
“We’re going to need every player in the squad over the next two games.”
Redditch are next in action against Leiston on Saturday, August 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Victory Road.
The Reds then host local rivals Bromsgrove Sporting on Monday, August 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
