MIKE Fowler wants to keep on-loan goalkeeper Tyrese Warmington ‘forever’ after the shot-stopper starred in Redditch United’s win at Barwell.

Warmington made a number of fine saves to help the Reds record a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory at Kirkby Road.

The club extended the 18-year-old’s loan from Birmingham City until the middle of January next year.

However, Fowler admits the club want to keep the young shot-stopper until the end of the campaign following another impressive display between the sticks.

Fowler said: “We’ve kept a clean sheet and it’s down to Ty [Warmington] again. He made some unbelievable saves.

“He’s just sensational and we’re very lucky to have him and if I’m Blues I’m delighted that we have been so shaky defensively.

“He’s getting tested way more than I’d like him. I really want my attacking players to come to the fore but they can’t because we can’t get a platform in the game.

“We wanted to extend his loan until the end of the season. Blues have said lets go until mid-January and see where we’re at then.

“I want him forever. How much he cares about the goals he concedes, he’s the loudest person on the pitch and I love that about him.”

A fine solo goal from Robbie Bunn after just six minutes settled the game as the Reds secured a fourth straight win in the Southern League Premier Central.

However, Fowler insists Redditch have plenty of work to do following a disappointing second-half display against Barwell.

Fowler added: “I’m delighted with the result because it keeps the run going and keeps us in the play-offs.

“We were okay in the first half, they didn’t really land a glove on us in the final third and didn’t ask many questions of us.

“The second half, they deserved something out of the game. I’m certainly not smug because I know there’s a lot of work to be done.

“We’re doing well in terms of results but we’ve identified what we need to improve to stay in the mix at the top end of the pitch.

“On another day we could have conceded three or four. I want to forget about the second half.”

Redditch are next in action against Needham Market on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Bloomfields.
