ROBBIE Bunn’s early goal helped Redditch United to a 1-0 win away at Barwell as the Reds secured back-to-back away victories in the league for the first time this season.
Bunn netted the game’s only goal after six minutes at Kirkby Road to earn United a fourth successive league victory.
The result means Redditch sit fourth in the Southern League Premier Central table, three points behind leaders Spalding United.
Mike Fowler’s side broke the deadlock after just six minutes as Bunn jinked his way past three defenders before firing a low effort into the bottom left corner from 15-yards out.
And the Reds almost doubled their lead when Harry Eden delivered a cross into the box from the left and Finn Osborn tipped Reece Flanagan’s volley behind for a corner.
The visitors remained on top as Bunn lashed a shot inches over the crossbar after Barwell failed to deal with a corner into the box from the left.
Barwell looked to respond after the break as captain Prince Mancinelli fired a powerful shot wide of the post from distance.
Reds goalkeeper Tyrese Warmington then produced a fine double save to first deny Charlie Dowd and then former Redditch man Anthony Dwyer with the latter in an offside position.
The home side continued to test the Redditch goal as Warmington also palmed substitute Kane Richards’ shot to safety.
United responded with a chance of their own as Osborn showed sharp reflexes to keep out Alex Cameron’s effort diving to his right.
Redditch are next in action against Needham Market on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Bloomfields.
