Alcester juniors' efforts are recognised

IN A victorious and promotion-winning season for the senior teams, the Alcester RFC minis and juniors also contributed to a successful 2016/17 campaign for the Kings Coughton club.

During the closed season the performance of the players was recognised at the end of season awards when trophies being awarded to Players’ Player and Coaches’ Player respectively for each age group.

The winners were: U6 – Verity Miller and Daniel Stanton; U7 – Harry Stevens-Smith and Nicholas Campbell-Kelly; U8 – Kobe Turner and Diego Guzman; U9 – Chris Hughes and Noah Birks; U10 – Noah Poulter and Joshua Williams; U11 – Toby Birks and Maddie Poulter; U12 – Dominic Roadley and Joe Stevens-Smith; U13 – Olly Hopkins and Toby Wilson; U14 – Xander Smith and Jack Elvins.

Aside from the players, credit is also given to the coaches and volunteers of the junior section. Debbie Burgess was awarded the accolade of Junior Club Person of the Year for her passion and dedication to the club.




Burgess’ work continues next season too as she puts her level two coaching to further practice by leading an U13 girls’ team.

The mini and junior section encourage and welcome new players to come down for registration day on Sunday, September 3, which marks the start of the new season for the youths.


In particular, the colts team are looking to recruit players in all positions aged 17 and older. Training has already started and takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm. Those interested can contact Stu Phillips on 07843 080865 for more information.
