Alcester Nomads secure fourth consecutive win despite lowest score of season

ALCESTER Nomads registered their lowest score of the Swan Studley Skittles League season but still secured a fourth win in a row.

Opponents Well Developed put up a good fight but third-placed Nomads competed a league double with a 309-302 scoreline.

Leg one was shared but Nomads moved 16 pins ahead in the second, then saw their lead cut by seven pins before sharing the fourth and Well Developed also took the final leg.

Nomads’ Penny Moore topscored with 40 pins, backed up by Alan Cummings (35) and Geoff Lout (33). Martin Brennan continued his good scoring for Well Developed with 37 (including 14 stack), with Ros Potinger (34), Margueritte Bayley and Shirley Searle (33 each).




Jumbo Jet Set produced the second lowest score to win a league game this season but edged out Alley Cats 295-287.

Alley Cats trailed by 19 pints after two legs, but Jumbos took the third and fourth to lead by seven and nick the last leg by a single pin.


Len Quartly (38), Ben Jones (36), and Rob Quartly and Geoff Turrell, 33 each, were best for Jumbos, with Tony O’Connor (34), Anne O’Connor (33), Sue Hollis (32) and Neil Harrison (32) leading the way for Alley Cats.

Lodge Farmers built on an eight-point lead after two legs and then took the third by 20 pins to defeat Swingers 313-291.

Lynne Long and Jason Kirk both scored 38 for Lodge Farmers, with Chris Pritchard adding 37 while Swingers’ Paul Clifton made his team’s highest individual score this season with 43 (15 stack), followed by Brenda Morris (33) and Christine Hallam (30).

Leaders Maudslay returned to their good scoring by defeating Swan 324-312 to move 15 points clear of the rest, having played one game more.

They led by 11 pins after leg one but only took the next three legs by narrow margins before Swan took the last leg by four pins for an extra point.

Their top scroers were Graham Howells (42, 14 stack), Al Lumb (38), Andy Reynolds (32) and Carl Moorman (32). Maudslay’s best were Stu Griffiths (37), Geoff Mayneord (35) and Lyn Fryer (35).
