PLAYERS and coaching staff at Alcester RFC are looking forward to the first competitive affairs of pre-season.

With training and preparations well underway for the new Midlands Three West (South) campaign well underway, Alcester will be taking part in a training game at Bromsgrove RFC on Thursday, August 17.

Then on Saturday, August 26, Alcester host the annual Firefighter’s Trophy against Redditch.

Following last season’s promotion from Midlands Four West (South), both of Alcester’s senior sides have been elevated to a higher level of the Warwickshire RFU Shield.

The first XV have been against Southam in a fixture which has to be played on or before Sunday, September 3.

Meanwhile, the second XV have been drawn at home to Leamington on or before Saturday, October 22.

In another cup tie, Alcester have received a bye in the first round of the RFU Senior Vase.

Alcester are currently on the search for new players and anyone is welcome to join the pre-season matches to experience the games and team.

For those who are keen, training is every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8.30pm.
