ALVECHURCH’S wait for a home game continued after tonight’s (TUESDAY) Worcestershire Senior Urn tie against Highgate United was postponed.
Despite the best efforts of the groundsman, a waterlogged pitch at Lye Meadow meant the semi-final was called off.
One side of the pitch was still particularly boggy so the match became the fifth home game in a row to be postponed.
The Churchmen have not played on home turf since a 3-0 win against Westfields on November 17.
Ian Long’s men had been desperate to play to get rid of the hangover of Saturday’s FA Vase exit at Cleethorpes.
Their next fixture is now due to be at home against Stourport Swifts on Saturday in the Midland League Premier Division.
The other Urn semi-final between Littleton and Bromsgrove Sporting was also postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
