Alvechurch 4 Brocton 1

Midland Football League Premier Division

ALVECHURCH visit leaders Long Eaton United on Saturday buoyed by an emphatic home win over Brocton on Saturday as boss Lee Adams enjoyed his first victory in charge of the Lye Meadow outfit.

Church now sit seventh on 16 points from ten games and will want to capitalise on this four-goal blitz, which saw early pressure pay dividends with a tenth minute penalty scored by Luke Shearer.

They then took a deserved 2-0 lead after 37 minutes, following more good work on the left from Shearer, who drove into the box and and his strike hit Brocton’s Robert Tomlinson and flew into the net.

After the break Alvechurch made sure of victory by inflicting the killer blow in the shape of a third goal on 47 as a sublime ball from Mike McGrath found Connor Deards who lifted the ball over Barrett and into the net.

Brocton did create chances after the third goal but Alvechurch put the icing on the cake on 69 minutes with a fourth goal, this time from a Joe Adams corner that found the head of Deards for his second.

Brocton created chances and managed a consolation goal in the 78th minute from the penalty spot, but it was Alvechurch who came away the happier and the result and performance were the perfect response to the 2-0 home defeat to Stourport Swifts the previous Tuesday.
