Alvechurch show intent with capture of striker McFarlane

ALVECHURCH have capped a profitable week on the player recruitment front by signing former Birmingham City forward Kyle McFarlane.

The 23-year-old has arrived from National League North outfit York City with a phenomenal scoring record to his name.

McFarlane was a Blues professional for four years and scored 18 goals for the under 23s in three months before joining York last term.

Meanwhile, Southern Premier Central outfit Alvechurch have given central midfielder Kyle Belmonte a chance to step up a few levels.




The 21-year-old has moved to Lye Meadow from West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division side Worcester Raiders.

Belmonte is no stranger to the Southern League, however, as he also gained experience with Redditch United in 2017/18 and was also on the books at Stratford Town.


Originally with Worcester City as a youth and Kidderminster Harriers, he has also featured for Malvern Town, Walsall Wood and Upton Town.

Church manager Ian Long has also brought in defender James Wilcock from Midland League Premier Division side Highgate United.

The former Aston Villa youngster finished his youth career with Tamworth and also had a spell with Sutton Coldfield Town.

He was also on Alvechurch’s books five years ago for a short time.

Attacking right-back James Wilcock has joined from Highgate and the former Villa youth player will be keen to impress on his second spell at Alvechurch having also played for the club five years ago.

Alvechurch have signed young midfielder Jordan Clement from Southern Premier Central rivals Tamworth.

Clement joined Tamworth in the summer of 2018 from Southern Division One Central outfit Coleshill Town having previously been with Midland League Premier side Romulus.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers academy product made a big impact at The Lamb in 2018/19, securing a regular spot in the first team squad.

Several players have also been retained, including powerful young striker Louie Monaghan and experienced left-back Zac Foster.
