Brilliant Batchley celebrate hockey triumph

Redditch Editorial 13th Feb, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

BATCHLEY First School youngsters enjoyed success at a hockey tournament staged at Redditch Hockey Club.

Seventeen local schools fielded teams at the event, which formed part of the Sainsbury’s School Games initiative.

The Batchley team, who have only been training together since Christmas, won all their pool games and progressed to the semi-finals in fine style.

After marching on, the final was a tense affair against last year’s winners Tenacres First School and it was a golden goal from Kenzie McKeon which clinched tournament victory for Batchley after the match had finished 0-0 in normal time.

Batchley’s Bobby Hill was top scorer in the competition with 11 goals.

Batchley will now represent Redditch at the Worcestershire Winter School Games at the University of Worcester on March 1.
