Church Hill lead but Black Horse look ominous

CHURCH HILL’S 1-1 draw at home to Hizza United was enough to make them the new leaders of the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination Premier Division, but Black Horse are just one place and point behind with two games in hand after moving into second spot with their 3-2 victory at reigning champions Austin Ex-Apprentices.

SHTP moved back to the top of Division One after a double from goal-machine Aaron Brough helped them to a 3-1 victory at Dagnell End Rovers.

The Studley Charity Cup tie between CBH Fasteners and visitors Rocklands went the distance to penalties following a 2-2 draw. CBH led twice – both in normal and extra time – courtesy of Nathan Davies goals but each time they were pegged back by strikes from Danny Styles and Listowel Fereday.

This was after an injury reduced the home side to ten men early in the game. Both keepers stole the show in the penalty shoot-out with three saves each, but Rocklands eventually prevailed 5-4 on spot kicks.

Millfield Rovers put up a strong showing in the BRT Terry Cup against Wychbold RBL, but were not helped by a rush of blood which reduced them to ten men, and goals from Brett Mould and Danny Carter saw Premier Division side Wychbold to a 2-1 victory and a place in the semi-finals.

In Division Two it was business as usual for leaders OKH Sporting Dynamo, for whom Timmy Houghton’s curling strike from distance was the pick of the goals in their 6-0 win over New Woodland Cottage.

Rubery Legends were not helped by having their goalkeeper sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity as they crashed to an 11-0 defeat at Queens Head, for whom Chris Moran and Sam Reeves both helped themselves to hat-tricks.
