Confident Town are raring to go

PLAYER-manager James Robbins says his Alcester Town side are itching to return to league duty after suffering a series of postponements.

Town are due to host Inkberrow FC at Stratford Road on Saturday (2pm) and right back Robbins is hoping the inclement weather relents to give eighth placed Alcester the chance to continue their surge up the Midland League Division Three table.

“It has been a frustrating time of late with all the postponements but we look forward to getting back into the thick of it on Saturday,” said Robbins.

“We’re all desperate to play football, as it’s now four weeks since our last league game.

“Hopefully we have seen the last of the postponements now as we don’t want a major fixture pile-up come the end of the season.

“Our next four fixtures are ones we are very much looking forward to. We have shown superb form of late, mainly against sides from the lower parts of the league, but it’s time to show what we are capable of against those sides higher up the table.

“I think we will have a good idea of how our season is going to shape up following these next four games.

“I am confident in the group we have put together, we certainly won’t be fearing anyone, but it’s up to us to send out a message and continue our good run of form with strong performances and positive results over the next few weeks.”

Adam Trinder has been suffering from a hamstring injury but is hopeful of being fit for Town on Saturday, but Kieran Downey serves the first of his two-match suspension following his sending off against Boldmere S&S in the Challenge Vase.
