Cup matches take centre stage

TWO Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination cup competitions got under way on Sunday as the BRT Terry Cup and BSA Cup action began.

In the BRT Terry Cup first round all three home teams secured their progress.

Golden Cross beat Studley Swan 3-0 with goals from Mark Wilkes, Ben White and Nick Cox, whilst South Redditch were 4-0 winners over AFC Lions with two goals from Declan Gilsenan and one each from Ian Leyton and Carl Dwyer.

Shakespeare Studley enjoyed a 4-0 victory over VKL United thanks to two goals from Tapsell and one apiece from Kelleher and J Benton.




In the BSA Cup first round it was the turn of the away teams to secure their progress.

Lorcan Davenport and Aaron Bates netted for New Woodland Cottage but they were beaten 4-2 by CBH Fasteners for whom Sean Parish struck twice and James Morrall and Mark Harrison also scored.


Lodge Park beat Redditch Town 6-3 as Terry Nolan scored four times for the visitors, for whom Brett Lodge and Neil Richardson also registered. Mohamed Najah, Chris Adams and Rob Stevenson scored for Town.

In the Premier Division Austin Ex-Apprentices continued their goalscoring exploits by beating SCC Redolence 11-2 as another five goals were scored by Andy Nicol.

Richard Deeming bagged a brace and Jack Warton, Josh Westwood, Jamie Partridge and Craig Spink also scored for Austin, whilst Paul Jeynes and Ashley Holdstock were on the mark for the hosts.

SO Goose Greenlands drew 2-2 with visitors Redditch Cross.

The home side’s first point of this season arrived courtesy of goals from Matt Hale and Tom Cartwright, whilst Luke Jones and James Rossiter netted for Cross.
