Dinsley takes flight with Harriers move

MIDFIELDER Calvin Dinsley has become the latest Redditch United player to take the familiar path from the Valley Stadium to Kidderminster Harriers.

Having seen striker Jamie Spencer exit for Aggborough midway through last season, the Reds have now lost 24-year-old playmaker Dinsley to Conference Premier full-timers Kidderminster.

Reds manager Liam McDonald admitted his side’s success in claiming a top six place in the Southern League Premier Division would alert higher ranked clubs to the quality of the squad he has assembled.

Rumours are also linking Harriers with talented Reds defender Jordan Jones.

Dinsley was on West Bromwich Albion’s books as a youngster and had spells at Cambridge United and Evesham United. He joined Redditch from Stourport Swifts in November last year.

Harriers manager Gary Whild said: “Calvin is a player we’ve known about for quite some time and he’s someone who has spent time working at the club back when he was studying and assisting our medical staff.

“We already knew the inside track with him and the type of lad he is – he has a fantastic attitude as a player and he has progressed very quickly.

“He’s technically gifted and a very good passer of the ball and, without trying to put him in a bracket, he does remind me a bit of Jack Byrne when Jack first came here.”

Byrne also joined Harriers from the Reds in 2010.
