SOME reasonable weights were taken in Saturday’s Redditch Federation of Anglers Open match on Arrow Valley Lake as feeder tactics outscored the pole generally.

Mark Malin (MAP) was best with two carp for 13lb plus bream for a 31lb 14oz bag fishing the method on peg 29.

Alan Baldwin (Worcester) took second spot with an all-bream catch of 27lb 2oz from 69 as again method was the successful tactic.

Birmingham anglers Phil Jones and Rob Cooksey had a good tussle for third and fourth on pegs 55 and 54 respectively, with Jones just in front with 26lb 9oz to Cooksey’s 24lb 3oz, both with all-bream bags.

Section awards went to John Snelson (Worcestershire) with 20lb 12oz and Bob Jones (Birmingham) with 16lb 6oz and best pole catch was Dean Boswell’s 18lb 6oz catch of roach, perch and small hybrids from peg 41.

The next Open will be on July 16, although a ‘float only’ scramble will be held on Saturday, June 11. Call John Bushell on 07879 624248 for details.
