MAX Black scored the only goal as Studley made a winning start to life back in the Midland Football League Premier Division against Stone Old Alleynains.
In the first ever meeting between the two teams, chances were at a premium despite the pair coming into the contest off the back of wins in the FA Cup last time out.
There was little to report in terms of goalmouth action in the first half before Studley began to test the Stone goalkeeper more frequently in the second period.
And the Bees were rewarded on the hour mark when Black broke the deadlock after he was picked out by Joe Blowers’ cross from the left.
Ryan Goodwin in the Stone goal prevented Studley from adding to their lead whilst opposite number Brendon Bunn was rarely troubled thanks to some resolute defending.
Studley are next in action away at Tividale TONIGHT (Tuesday, August 16) with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Beeches.
