Four return as Kingfishers chase a crucial win

A QUARTET of key players return to the Redditch Entaco squad for Saturday’s vital Worcestershire League Division One relegation tussle at home to Bromyard.

Star paceman Waqas Ali, influential all-rounder Perry Derrick, Tom Field and Rizwan Choudry are all available for the Kingfishers, who head into the match just one place and three points above the drop zone following Saturday’s dismal nine-wicket defeat at Droitwich.

Bromyard are a place and 15 points above Redditch so, with nine matches remaining, this is a key encounter as the home side look to haul themselves back into contention with sides above them.

In their last outing Redditch were bowled out for just 191 as Russell Southwick led the way with 38 before in reply Droitwich – inspired by the Young brothers Jake and Max – put on a century partnership to help see the home side to victory in just 38.4 overs.

A CENTURY from Tom Field (101) was the highlight of the day at Bromsgrove Road as Stourport claimed victory to maintain their place as Division One 2nd XI league leaders.

Batting first, Redditch put themselves in a strong position thanks to Field’s 101, ably supported by Matt Greenway with 59, but the innings fell away from 181-1 to 277-8, with Spencer Colley the pick of the bowling in taking 4-53.

In reply Stourport made 62 for the first wicket and the momentum continued as they added 119 for the second wicket as Mark Moss and David Pittaway dominated proceedings.

Moss (127) continued to torment the Redditch attack and completed a magnificent century. Ethan Lockwood and Mitchell Dwyers continued the good form and Stourport reached their target with more than three overs to spare to seal a six-wicket success.

On Saturday the 2nds travel to Netherton.

AN EXCELLENT day’s cricket at Entaco saw Stourport sneak the points in Division Five with a five-run victory over Redditch 3rds.

Having dismissed the visitors for just 147 thanks to Olly Mason (4-30) and Raghavendra Raj (3-30), once again the 3rds suffered with their batting as only Will Feast with an excellent 46 showed any form as his side were dismissed for 142.

Stourport completed a treble of victories over Redditch with an eight-wicket win in the 4ths’ match in Division Five 2nd XI.

Despite a positive start, a middle order collapse saw the visitors bowled out for just 156 as Jacob Ottley (30) and skipper Mick Pegg (21) added some late runs, but in reply Stourport took just 24.4 overs to complete the clean sweep.

On Saturday the 3rds visit Tenbury Wells and the 4ths are at home to the same opposition.
