SENSEI Dave Treadwell of FSK Shotokan Karate – which has dojos in Redditch and Wythall – won two gold medals in a prestigious international online kata competition.
The contest had entries from around the globe including the UK, Germany and as far afield as the USA and Mexico.
The kata judges were the inspirational Emma Elmes and Masters Andries Douglas, Iratxe de la Quintana Gonzalez, Harri Peck and Chris Hemstock.
The idea – the brainchild of award-winning martial artist Elmes – was for this international panel to get people in lockdown to continue training and be able to compete.
Sensei Treadwell competed in two categories – individual kata and creative kata – and took gold in both.
