Harry captures River Arrow Championship crown

HARRY SIDEBOTTOM was crowned the 2017 River Arrow Championship winner after he topped a 79-strong field for the annual contest which was fished from Alcester to Broom on Saturday.

Sidebottom weighed in 16lb 4oz from Throckmorton AC’s water. Joint second were Jack Dean and Rory Burke with 10lb 2oz, fourth was Mick Keen with 8lb 8oz and fifth was Barry Feldhahn with 7lb 6oz.

Special thanks go to Phil O’Donnell and his helpers for a well organised match and anglers wish to thank the Kings Court Hotel for its hospitality.

The following day’s Needles AC contest on the River Alne at Great Alne was won by Ali Morgan with 3lb 14oz.




Second was Phil O’Donnell with 3lb 11oz, third was Pete Lewis with 3lb 1oz and section winners were Bob Brazil (2lb 14oz) and Barry Feldhahn (2lb 12oz).

ALAN BRADSHAW bagged perch and dace on the pole using maggots for a winning catch of 3lb 3oz in Sunday’s Riverside AC Aggregate match on the River Alne in Alcester.


Runner-up Tony Bradshaw caught dace on the stick float for 1lb 15oz, while experienced Trevor Terry had 1lb 13oz of perch and dace for third place.
