Helpers needed to spruce up Kings Coughton club

Liam Moakes 6th Jun, 2017

ALCESTER are calling on all members and friends of the club to lend a hand at this weekend’s annual tidy-up.

Volunteers are needed to sweep, clean, tidy, paint and generally spruce up the Kings Coughton club in the closed season.

The working party will be on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm both days, but people can give what time they are able to over the weekend. One hour from every person will make light of the jobs on the list.

Meanwhile, Alcester’s AGM will be held at the Kings Coughton clubhouse at 7.30pm on Thursday, June 15. The meeting is to review what was a very successful 2016/17 season and is open to all members to elect the new committee for the 2017/18 campaign.

Alcester return to pre-season training on Tuesday, June 27 at 7pm at Kings Coughton ahead of their first ever season in Midlands Three West (South) following last season’s promotion-winning campaign.

Next season will see some old club rivalries resumed, as well as the opportunity to welcome new opponents to Kings Coughton for the first time in league rugby.

The fixtures for the new campaign have been released and Alcester begin with successive home games against local rivals Woodrush – who have been spared relegation – and Bromyard, alongside whom Alcester were promoted last season.

Alcester’s 2nd XV will also be returning to league rugby in the Warwickshire 2nd XV Merit League and details of their fixtures will be released shortly.

With a full fixture list for both teams, new players of all abilities will be made welcome to bolster the squad. Anyone interested should turn up for training on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from June 27, or contact the club via www.pitchero.com/clubs/alcesterrfc.
