DESPITE its season having been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Inkberrow Bowls Club managed to hail its 2020 champions at the weekend.
Because of lockdown restrictions and anti-Covid measures, all the club’s league matches and friendly fixtures were cancelled.
However, bowlers were able to return to the green as the summer progressed through adopting precautions recommended by Bowls England and last weekend the club staged its competition finals.
The Ladies Singles final was won for the second successive year by Lou Reeves, whilst there will be a new name on the Men’s Singles honours board with the title going to Richard Long.
The Mixed Singles final was won by John Bird and the husband and wife team of Rob and Yvonne Spencer were winners of the Mixed Pairs.
The club had earlier managed to stage two triples competitions for members and the Mike Chant Trophy went to Pat Willis, Paul Cotton and John Bird, whilst the Peggy Holt Cup was won by Alan Slater, Jill Nash and John Bradley.
