Junior sides are turning on the style

THE LAST few weeks have been eventful for Redditch United junior teams who have enjoyed massive successes in the younger age groups.

Four out of five teams won their respective Winter Cup leagues in the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League and many congratulations go to Gary Jenkins’ U7s, Steve Phillips’ U9s, Alex Joynes’ U10s and Scott Smith’s U11s.

In addition, this weekend Phil Hinks’ U13s are set to win their league for the second successive season.

Meanwhile, Simon Rowberry’s U14s will take part in the televised finals of the FA People’s Cup in Sheffield.

RUFC juniors are also pleased to announce that, for the second year running, all managers have committed to another 12 months which is a massive achievement which puts the total teams at Redditch United up to 46 before the season ends.

The juniors will also be involved in the new disability teams, of which there will be six next season.

After the first two years of getting the foundations right within the club, from the juniors right the way through to the first team, the rewards are now coming through.

This was underlined by the U7s who took part in an exhibition match at West Bromwich Albion against the Baggies’ Academy side.

The young Reds clearly made an impression as four have been invited to join the academy for further progression.
