Khori Fosters ambitions to impress Church

Redditch Editorial 29th Oct, 2016   0

ALVECHURCH want to see Khori Foster make his name in English football after his arrival from the United States of America.
The defender, who made his Alvechurch debut in Tuesday’s Worcestershire Senior Urn exit at Stourport Swifts, has travelled to England to try to earn himself a football career.
Foster has a pedigree, having played college football in Florida and been on the roster of NASL club Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
Church boss Ian Long revealed he had been tipped off about the 6ft defender by Sutton Coldfield counterpart Neil Tooth.
“Khori has come over to further his career and he wants to do well,” said Long. “He was training with Sutton but because of his visa conditions he cannot play any higher than Step Five.
“It’ll be different to playing in Florida, that’s for sure.”
Foster was among five players making their debuts against Stourport and they will be looking to stake their claim to play tomorrow (Saturday) when Coventry United visit Lye Meadow.
Winger Ryan Edmunds, who has switched from Sutton, also featured in midweek but Long says he has been on their hit-list for the last few seasons.
Long revealed he had tried to sign right-sided player Edmunds three years ago when he was Tividale manager.
“We tried to sign Ryan when he was with Boldmere and we won the league at Tividale.
“We wanted him and Simeon Maye to join us going up into the Evo-Stik League, but in the end Ryan went to Stafford and Simeon went to Redditch.
“I’m delighted we’ve finally got him.”
Like fellow newcomers Josh Cooke, who netted against Swifts, and Jamie Spencer, they will all need time to get their fitness up to speed.
“All three of them haven’t played that much football recently,” said Long. “They have got work to do on their fitness but they will bring something extra to the squad.”
Former Redditch and Kidderminster player Spencer signed last month but his appearances have been curtailed after he injured his foot after being hit by a forklift truck at his work.
