Kingfishers excited as new season approaches

Redditch Editorial 26th Mar, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

THE NEW cricket season is just around the corner and Redditch Entaco Cricket Club are busily preparing for their Worcestershire League Division One campaign.

There have been new faces at winter nets and, with captain Luke Davis back at the helm, it promises to be a good season for the club.

The Kingfishers have signed young Australian seamer Joe Scarcella, who has been taking wickets galore down under, whilst homegrown spinner Perry Derrick has also been in Australia over the winter honing his skills.

Geoff Eley continues as 2nd XI captain and Redditch will be hopeful of mounting a strong challenge in their league.

Matthew Mansfield is newly-appointed as 3rd team skipper and is hoping some of the younger players can make a strong push for higher honours, whilst also helping the 3rds climb the league.

A new club coach has been appointed in the shape of Richard Hadley, who will assist with both junior and senior sides.

He is a well respected coach who has worked for some top sides in the area and is also part of Worcestershire’s community coaching programmes.

These are exciting times at Redditch Entaco CC as the Lashings game looms in August, whilst other off-field events look to really set the club up for a great 2015 season and beyond.

This coming weekend sees the club once again take part in the NatWest CricketForce initiative as extensive work will take place at the club’s grounds.

All cricketers, friends and supporters are welcome to come along and contribute on what should be a fun-filled weekend.

For more details about NatWest CricketForce day you can e-mail the club at [email protected] or contact chairman Daren Field on 07985 382320.
