Lashings XI confirmed for big game at Redditch Entaco

IT IS just a week until Redditch Entaco’s cricketers will be facing stars of the sport from across the globe when the Lashings All-Stars come to Bromsgrove Road and the touring XI has now been confirmed.

Pakistani paceman Yasir Arafat and former England opening batsman Michael Carberry can no longer attend due to their involvement in Hampshire’s T20 Blast quarter-final at Worcestershire the same day, but their replacements are exciting to say the least and add to an already excellent list of players in attendance, all of whom have played Test cricket.

On Friday, August 14 the home players will face a Lashings XI confirmed as: Phil DeFreitas (captain), Tino Best, Martin Bicknell, Mark Ealham, Kirk Edwards, John Emburey, Wasim Jaffer, Devon Malcolm, Tim McIntosh, Tim Paine and Mohammad Yousuf.

Yousuf in particular is a great of world cricket having averaged 52.29 in 156 Test innings for Pakistan and there could be batting fireworks from Australian wicketkeeper Paine and express bowling from West Indian Best.

Lashings are managed by former Worcestershire and England batsman David Smith and coached by West Indian batting great Gordon Greenidge.

With numerous former England favourites on show, it promises to be an occasion to savour as the Redditch players test themselves against the stars, and tickets remain on sale both before the match and on the day.

Due to a late drop out, the club now have additional places in the hospitality marquee available. For those who want to bring mates, family or clients a table of ten is on offer for £500. Alternatively, single seats can be bought for £50 per person. Places in the marquee include a three-course lunch, with wine provided on the table.

For more details about the game, including individual tickets and places in the hospitality marquee, tweet the club @REDDITCHCC or call chairman Daren Field on 07985 382320.

The day not only includes the T20 contest between Redditch’s finest and the All-Stars, but the marquee will also give the opportunity to meet and chat with the Lashings squad and there will be a charity auction with some great sporting memorabilia on offer.
