Lions savour BSA Cup glory

GOALS from Phil Sargent, Jamie Hatfield and Robbie Ager guided SSS Lions to glory in the BSA Cup final as opponents Redditch United Cross were defeated 3-0 at Studley FC in the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination’s first final of the season.

The line-up for the Hunt Crane Cup final at Studley on Sunday, April 7 (5pm) is complete after a dramatic day of action on Sunday.

VKL United secured their place in their first ever final after beating Lodge Park 4-2 on penalties following a 3-3 draw after 90 minutes. Mal Williams (2) and Tom Powell were the scorers for VKL and Owen Fisher, Pete Murphy and Terry Nolan bagged the goals for Lodge Park.

VKL’s opponents will be Feckenham Sunday who enjoyed a 6-2 victory over SCC Redolence. George Tolley (2), Jack Smith, Kieren Donnelly, Robbie Davies and Connor Perry-Holmes scored for the victors and Luke Bryan and Andrew Seager were on target for SCC.




Matt Armond scored both goals as Astwood defeated Beoley Village 2-0 to move up to eighth in the league, whilst Redditch United Cross maintained the pressure on leaders CBH Fasteners with a 3-1 win against Studley Lions. James Fox scored twice and Kyle Perkins also netted for Cross, with Richard Mark the Lions’ scorer.

SSS Lions maintained their momentum from their cup final win with a 4-1 victory over Norton Athletic in which Ben Ellicott (2), Marc Jovanovic and Nick Briggs bagged the goals and Scott Baker netted for Norton.


Nath Davies bagged a brace for leaders CBH Fasteners and George Thomas and Ollie Davies were also on target for the table-toppers in a 4-1 success against South Redditch.
