Lucy and Co are terrific in Tipton

LUCY HATFIELD secured first and second placed finishes as she starred at the Tipton Summer Series event at Tipton Sports Academy.

Competing in the under 11 age group, the Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club youngster finished second in the 150m in 25.6secs and first in the 600m with a terrific time of 2:06.7.

Other B&R athletes shone as Chelsea Wright was second in the women’s under 17s 800m race in 2:26.1, whilst in the under 17s 800m men’s B race Alexander Johnson was victorious in 2:15.5.

The 800m mixed race saw Rebecca Selvey top the pile in the V/40 standings in 2:38.3.




B&R girls Natalie Hatfield and Ruth Gameson were in fine form in the 1,500m mixed B races as they took on athletes much older than themselves.

Natalie was first in the under 13s race in 5:08.6 and Ruth was first in the under 20s race in 5:29.8.


Conor Smith continued his good form in the 1,500m race with a second placed finish in both the overall race and his age group in 4:07.5.

THE MIDLANDS 10,000m Championships saw former B&R runner Joe Smith set another personal best as he led the Tipton Harriers team home in fourth place in 31:40.3.

The race was won by Cheltenham’s Graham Rush in 31:01.7.

B&R’s Laura Keyte, running among the men in her last race before returning home to Argentina, produced a superb performance to finish second lady in 38:02.9.
