THROCKMORTON AC’s annual match at Manor Farm Leisure at Harvington on Saturday was split into five sections.

First section winner was Phil Smith with 132lb, second section Bob Baber (60lb 10oz), third section Paul Murray (48lb), fourth section Mick Keen (42lb) and fifth section Glyn Blewett (39lb 8oz).

BOB Evans was top rod with 22lb 6oz as 19 anglers took part in the third round of the Jubilee AC Spring League on Withies pool on Sunday.

Ian Pitman was second with 20lb 8oz, Glyn Blewett third with 12lb 8oz and section winners were Ron Evans (9lb 2oz), Frank Wallace (8lb 9oz) and Alan Gardner (8lb 4oz).

DESPITE a bitterly cold north easterly wind, some reasonable catches were taken in the Redditch Federation of Anglers Cadence Fishing Tackle Spring League first round match at Arrow Valley Lake on Saturday.

The more sheltered pegs on the Bluebell bank coughed up all of the top weights and Peter Millard (Redditch Fed) was first with a catch of ten bream for 22lb 6oz from lake peg 54 using open-ended feeder tactics. He caught fish on a mixture of worm and maggot hook baits.

Alf Hand (Worcester) was runner-up with 20lb 5oz of bream taken in similar style to the winner from peg 48.

Scott Poynton (Rive) took third place with 18lb 11oz, ahead of Simon Chidler (Birmingham) with 17lb 15oz and Shaun Little (Matrix) with 14lb 4oz.

This event is decided on section placings over a series of four matches and section wins went to Millard and Poynton, James Lawler with 11lb 13oz and Mark Bissett (11lb 10oz).

Section runner-up awards went to Si Chidler, Hand, Colin Harvey (DH Angling) with 10lb 4oz and John Godwin (Redditch, 8lb 7oz).

The second round of this keenly-contested series is on April 27 and anglers will hope for warmer weather.
