WHITE Hart bounced back from a heavy defeat at Ward End the previous week to gain a nail-baiting one-shot home victory over Banbury in Premier Division Four of the Warwick & Worcester League.
They had six winners – Mick Perrins, Tim Hollingshead, Dave Kings, Mike Estell, Sheila Humphreys and captain Stan Pritchard – in a 225-224 thriller.
White Hart’s Wednesday team jumped to the top of Yardley Wood & District League Division Three by completing the double over local rivals Alcester B.
Captain Paul Matthews, Tim Hollingshead and Gill Croft all impressively won their ties to single figures and were supported by wins from Neil Laxton and Kirk Wright.
They now lead the table by two points from Selly Park and, with just two matches to play, promotion is in their own hands.
In SW Birmingham League Division Four, White Hart over 60s gained a fine win at Hall Green. Their four winners were Anne Batchelor (21-5), Sheila Humphreys (21-11), Brian Chatterley (21-13) and Tony Sugden, who has recently returned to playing after illness and easily won 21-5.
This victory gave White Hart seven valuable points.
In Northfield & District Sunday League Division Three, White Hart A beat Romsley & Hunnington 164-111 and posted numerous winners.
Ray Richards and Mick Perrins both won to single figures and were supported by Sheila and Ian Humphreys, Paul Matthews, Stan Pritchard and Sue Sugden.
This puts the team in the top position with 83 points, just heading The Maggies on aggregate and six points clear of King George V ‘B’.
