AFC LIONS and Beoley Village both progressed to the semi-finals of the Jim Fleeman Cup with victories of a different nature on Sunday.
Beoley Village saw off Studley Swan 2-0 in an evenly contested game as their outstanding defence limited Swan to one opportunity at goal. Neville Ekane and Cole Herbert scored for Village.
Richard Tyler scored a hat-trick for Lions and Robert Burkus (2), Jon Pearson and Ian Wroe were also on target in their 7-2 victory over SCC Redolence, for whom Anthony Bromhead and Luke Bryan netted.
Lions will face Shakespeare Studley in the last four and Beoley Village will take on New Woodland Cottage.
In the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination Premier Division, Golden Cross took the three points after beating New Woodland Cottage 3-2. Goals from Mark Wilkes, Rhys Whitehouse and Connor Poole secured victory, with Bradley Hawtins netting for Cottage.
Austin Ex-Apprentices beat CBH Fasteners 6-0 as Andy Nicol scored a hat-trick and Josh Westwood, Lewis Cosgrove and Liam Spink also struck.
Terry Nolan, Brett Lodge and Ellis McSweeney were the scorers for Lodge Park in their 3-1 Division One victory over Redditch Town, for whom Jamie Wright netted.
Sixteen goals were scored in two Division Two matches. VKL United beat Shakespeare Studley 7-3, despite Karl Surman’s hat-trick for the latter, as Ste Spencer and Sam Osmond both bagged braces for VKL and Tom Hill, Charlie Jones and Dan Hill also scored in VKL’s first league win since the split.
South Redditch drew 3-3 with SO Goose Greenlands, with Dan Gaffney, Garry Farmer and Dane Morgan the South Redditch scorers and Jack Darby (2) and James Mooney on the mark for Goose.
