Port Vale take Reds ace Angus into the Football League

REDDITCH United boss Tim Harris believes Dior Angus can make an impression at Port Vale after the 23-year-old sealed an eye-catching move to the League Two outfit.

Angus has enjoyed a superb first half to the Southern League Premier Division campaign, netting 17 goals in 23 games having been signed from Stratford Town by former Reds boss Darren Byfield last season.

Valiants boss Neil Aspin says the former Kidderminster Harriers and Solihull Moors forward has the potential to make an impact at Vale Park having signed an 18-month contract and Harris agrees.

“I have hardly had time to get to know Dior before he has moved on to take up a fantastic opportunity at Port Vale,” said Harris, whose side were beaten 5-2 at title favourites Hereford on New Year’s Day.

“He has impressed me immensely with his attitude and shown me just how much desire he has to succeed.

“From a personal point of view, it’s always disappointing to lose your top goalscorer, let alone within a week of joining a new club.

“I would always encourage players to progress if the opportunity arises as others will automatically see a pathway then want to be part of what you are trying to build.

“I am sure everyone from Redditch United sincerely wishes Dior all the very best at Port Vale.”

Aspin, who took Angus with his squad for Monday’s 1-0 defeat at title-chasing Notts County, said: “We’re hoping he (Angus) can progress here but there’s no pressure as he’s got to step up a few leagues, but he’s got some potential.”

Angus, whose departure from the Trico Stadium follows the exit of talented midfielder Andi Thanoj to National League North side Boston United, said: “I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the club and fans for all the help and support they have given me throughout my time with the Reds.”

Ex-Reds boss Byfield took to Twitter to congratulate Angus, saying: “The best news I’ve heard in a long time. I’m so, so happy and it’s not even my news. Get in there. #NeverStopDreaming #NeverStopWorking #NeverStopBelieving.”
