TOM SADDINGTON contributed 12 points as Redditch staged a second-half fightback to defeat Chaddesley Corbett and reach the North Midlands Vase quarter-finals.
Redditch were trailing 7-3 at half-time but prevailed 18-14 with tries from Saddington and Bryn Williams.
The first half was an even contest with Chaddesley defending well and eventually went ahead with a converted try with a conversion.
Redditch, with first-team debutant Sam Albert impressing, probed well and after a spell within the opposition 22 Saddington slotted home a penalty to make it 7-3 at the interval.
Coach James Shotbolt made some changes half time and after a good half time talk, Redditch came out with a different approach.
Both sides again played some fantastic rugby, with some strong defending.
Saddington crossing the line for a try (unconverted) to go ahead and then Bryn Williams went over for another try, converted by Saddington.
Redditch were leading 15- 7 with ten minutes to go and the home side were not finished and scored a converted try with six minutes to go.
Saddington, however, had an easy shot for the posts a minute later to seal an 18-14 win.
Redditch start their lMidlands Four West (South) campaign tomorrow (Saturday )with a tough away game at Claverdon.
Redditch Development XV enjoyed a winning start after a 17-12 home friendly win against Midland Two North (West) side Handsworth RFC’s Second XV.
