REDDITCH United will target the victory which will guarantee Southern League Premier Division survival when they host Basingstoke Town at the Trico Stadium on Saturday.
The Reds suffered a fourth successive defeat as they were beaten 2-0 by visitors St Ives Town on Saturday, but the hosts could at least take heart from an improved performance.
Individual errors led to goals in the 67th and 80th minutes from Ben Seymour-Shove and Josh Dawkin, but it was otherwise a far more positive display from United.
The home side had shaded an entertaining encounter until the Cambridgeshire outfit struck.
Attackers Dior Angus and Luke Keen were lively and Reds boss Darren Byfield said: “We were punished for the mistakes we made and it’s rare to see Brad (keeper Catlow) make a bad error.
“However, I can take plenty of positives from that display and a we need a greater ruthlessness in both boxes this weekend.”
Redditch will be without defender Jordan Cullinane-Liburd who serves the second game of a three-match suspension.
The Reds are nine points above the bottom four with four matches remaining.
