ALCESTER RFC’s second XV were edged out 34-29 by Barkers Butts despite a hat-trick from Elliot Evans.

And Alcester were bolstered by members from their Colt’s team as Freddie White, Joe Smith, Dom Roadley, Pavan Sembakuttige and Colts coach Jonathon Williams all stepped up to play in the fixture as well as returning player Oliver Hamson.

Alcester opened the scoring when the ball was spun wide to Kane O’Connor who dotted down in the corner after a spell of possession.

And Evans added Alcester’s second try of the game after he evaded several defenders before running 30-metres to scored underneath the posts.

However, Barkers Butts responded with a try of their own before they scored in the opposite corner with a simple try.

Both teams struck again before the break as Evans grabbed his second of the game before Barkers scored immediately from the restart.

And the visitors took the lead for the first time with their fourth try early in the second half only for an Alcester penalty to bring the scores level.

However, Barkers scored two quick tries, one after exploiting the defense and another after a kick ahead bounced favorably for the visitors to gather and dive over.

Evans rounded out the afternoon with his hat-trick try but it was not enough as the visitors clinched victory but the Red and Blacks were able to walk away with two bonus points from the game.

The first team return to action at home to Southam this weekend whilst the second team play the reverse fixture away against Southam 2nds.
