ALCESTER RFC secured promotion to the highest level of rugby in the club’s history after the Kings Coughton club were awarded a home walkover against Tenbury.
Promotion to the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) division was confirmed after opponents Tenbury were unable to field a team which handed Alcester a home walkover and the point they needed to seal a top-two finish.
And Alcester have a chance to win the Counties 2 Midlands West (South) title this weekend when they travel to league leaders Manor Park.
The promotion is Alcester’s second in the space of six years as the team gathered to raise a glass to their season’s success at their Birmingham Road home.
And Alcester will hope to be crowned league champions this weekend having beaten current leaders Manor Park 34-31 earlier this season.
Alcester’s trip to Manor Park takes place on Saturday, March 18 at Griff and Coton Sports Club.
