ALCESTER RFC are hosting a charity day in aid of Help for Heroes and Guide Dogs for the Blind on Saturday.

Gates open at Kings Coughton at noon and teams in action will include an Alcester XV and an Invitational Armed Forces XV.

There will be a barbecue, disco, bar and entertainment. Entry is free for spectators but donations are welcome.

Contact the club for more details about either playing or spectating.

Meanwhile, Alcester Colts were beaten 44-33 by Droitwich in their penultimate game of the campaign.

A threadbare Alcester, with several players out of position, went down despite a great fightback from a position that saw them trail by three converted tries early in the game.

Just after the break Alcester had managed to reduce the deficit to 28-26 and then got back to 33-33 in the closing stages, but in the end they ran out of steam.

Alcester’s try-scorers were Cian Allen (2), Josh O’Connor, Charlie Spires-White and James Bates, whilst player of the match Harry Adams added four conversions.
