TALENTED girls have been flying the St Bede’s Catholic Middle School (Academy) flag in impressive fashion, claiming district football and netball glory.

The year seven indoor football team played in the finals having qualified top of their group and they beat Woodfield 5-0 as Katie Notley scored all five goals in a superb display.

St Bede’s then drew 1-1 against Birchensale as Notley struck again before they beat favourites Walkwood 2-0 in the final match thanks to goals from Sophie Pyatt-Pierce and Katie Ellis.

The team played brilliantly together and Olivia Babula made some fantastic saves in goal.

Having finished top of the pile in the district, the St Bede’s girls now progress to the national competition. The team featured Katie Notley, Katie Ellis, Katie Mellors, Olivia Babula, Fay Commander and Sophie Pyatt-Pierce.

Elsewhere, the St Bede’s year eight girls played the final match in their netball league against Birchensale and the team continued their winning streak as they played some outstanding netball.

The unbeaten team have been crowned district champions and congratulations go to Carissa Palmeri, Alice Rogers, Olivia Cole, Romaya Warburton, Jessica Notley, Erin Hitchen, Isabelle Rooke and Aoife Woodcock.

The success continues a remarkable record for this particular netball team who have won their district competition for four consecutive years and have never lost a match in the Redditch district competitions.
