Super Sally claims top five finish

SALLY HOGAN produced a powerful performance to finish fifth in the third round of the Gloucestershire Cross Country League.

The race was held at Wotton-under-Edge near Dursley and the 130-mile round trip meant Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club representation was down the day.

B&R could not field a ladies’ team but nevertheless Hogan turned on the style and she was supported by Jane Anderson who finished 90th.

The club’s men had a few more soldiers on display including James Hood who was 45th, Andrew Freeman 57th, Ian Keyte 59th, Kevin Lanckham 65th, Dean Hartshorne 93rd, Phil Richardson 101st, Ian Nutter 136th, Paul Edmonds 149th and Phil Anderson 152nd.

The B&R seniors finished tenth out of 20 teams and the Masters were sixth among 16 teams.

Hogan sits fourth in the overall standings, Jane Anderson is third in the over 50s, Keyte is second in the over 55s and Richardson sits second in the over 60s.

The final finishing positions will be determined at the league finale at Cheltenham in February.

Next up for the B&R runners is the Worcestershire County Cross Country Championships at Newbold Comyn in Leamington on January 7.
