Talented Inkberrow Eagles girls get into the Euros spirit

INKBERROW Eagles girls’ teams marked Girls’ Football Week by playing their own Women’s European Championships.

Fifty youngsters ‘represented’ countries, with ‘France’ emerging victorious.

Earlier in the week the U13s and U15s teams were in action at the St Johns Colts tournament in Worcester.

Inkberrow Eagles U13s were eventual champions of their age group, winning both the semi-final and final on penalty shoot-outs.

The Eagles girls are now taking a summer break before returning for what will be their fifth year as a girls’ team in the 2017/18 season.

The new campaign will start with the opening of the new sports pavilion at Inkberrow which will serve both football and cricket.

The club sees this as an important step in moving forward and cementing its reputation in the area as a positive, forward-thinking club.

They are an FA Charter Standard club and the girls are a sister club to WSL top flight team Birmingham City Ladies, which has proved very successful.

One highlight from this season was a lap of honour around the pitch at Wembley prior to the Women’s FA Cup Final in which Blues took on Manchester City.
