Teams needed for exciting six-a-side charity event

ENTRIES are now being welcomed for the 2016 Redditch six-a-side Cup of Champions tournament which takes place next month.

Trinity High School & Sixth Form Centre will host the competition on Sunday, May 22 from 11am to 6pm.

The annual charity event attracts teams from across the country and is the ninth of its kind to be held since 2009 by the team of Redditch-based organisers.

More than £20,000 has been raised for a variety of causes across the world through the tournaments and other fund-raising initiatives.

The 2015 event was due to be the final one of its kind but, after a request from UK-registered charity Penny Appeal to help raise funds and awareness for its Orphan Kind appeal, the organising team decided to accept their request and stage another event this year.

The funds raised from this year’s event will help provide clothing, food, education and much-needed support for orphans and their foster parents.

The 18-team tournament, which costs £80 per team to enter, will feature sides from as far afield as the north west, Stoke, London, Lincoln and across the West and East Midlands in what promises to once again be a highly competitive event overseen by FA-qualified referees.

Anyone wishing to participate in and or sponsor the event is advised to contact 07867 755556 for more information.
