REDDITCH teenager Trystan Finocchiaro says he cannot wait for 2018 – to begin the countdown to his first full season as a World Championship racer.
The 19-year-old made his debut at world level with four rounds of the 2017 season in the FIM World Supersport 300 series with Bierreti Racing.
But now he has signed for the Scuderia Maranga Racing Team for a full assault on the championship.
The Anglo-Italian will be moving from Bierreti’s Yamaha YZF R3 to Maranga’s Honda CBR500R. The youngster completed a three-day test with the Bologna-based team at the Lausitzring in Germany in August and that was key to teaming up for 2018.
“Working with the team was a dream, we were always on the same page and worked perfectly,” said Finocchiaro. “This is what led to a further partnership with the team for the 2018 season.”
The team already have a number of tests lined up for the youngster, including testing at the Aragon Circuit in Spain which will be the first round of the 2018 World Supersport 300 series.
Finocchiaro himself is already undergoing “a lot of hard training” for the 2018 season and has “a lot more planned for both physical and bike fitness”.
He would like to thank Scuderia Maranga Racing for giving this opportunity and also his sponsors, Transmec Group, Kerax Hyperdrive, Absoloute Coatings, Interlink Direct, VF Foods, and RMT Motorcycle Training for making it possible.
He is also looking for new and more partners/sponsors as the championship is extremely competitive and to win it you need all the support you can get.
The 2018 season begins in Australia at Philip Island in February.
